Financial Management Platform
Senior UI Designer | Design System
United States
As a senior UI designer, I was thrilled to take on a new challenge with a Wealth management and investment adviser platform. My task was to create a design system to centralize their platform for mobile and desktop users. The project's initial scope involved auditing the existing designs, which were scattered across various Adobe XD projects. My job was to transform and redesign these designs in Figma, using the new design system I would create.
The design system was built around the idea of centralization, with a focus on creating a consistent and cohesive experience for users across all devices. This required the development of global components that could be used throughout the design system and a light and dark mode to cater to users' different preferences. I also needed to ensure the system worked seamlessly on mobile and web platforms.
Based on the requirements, a modified and revised version of Material UI 5 best fitted the platform's needs. I worked closely with their front-end developers to ensure that the design system was implemented seamlessly, and we decided to incorporate StoryBook into the process to create a more streamlined and efficient design-to-dev process.
One of the project's most significant challenges was creating a seamless experience between the "planner" side of the platform and the "client/user" side. The planners had access to various management tools to manage and communicate with their clients, suggest ways to invest and save for the future, and more. On the other hand, the users/clients had access to relevant tools for selecting their investment plans, inviting friends and family, connecting with an advisor, and more.
I created custom components and workflows that catered to the specific needs of each group while maintaining a cohesive and intuitive user experience. The result was a design system that worked seamlessly across the entire platform, with a unified visual language and consistent user experience. The planners were able to manage their clients more efficiently, while the clients themselves had access to a wide range of tools and features that made investing and saving for the future more accessible than ever before.
